Come join one of the fastest growing Winter Olympic sports. Learn to Curl classes include instruction of the game and etiquette, and use of equipment. Wear loose fitting clothing and bring a clean pair of rubber-soled shoes with you.
Format: Ten sessions over the course of the curling season, roughly 2 hours each. The first four sessions (Nov 23, 30, Dec 7, Jan 4) will begin with direct instruction on on-ice skill development and familiarization with the game of curling, followed by informal time for practice and individualized instruction as appropriate. The final six weeks (Jan 11, 18, 25, Feb 8, 15, Mar 1) will feature play in a league format, with participants forming teams and playing a different team each week as they would in regular league play. Teams will be formed with a mix of less and more experienced curlers to create teams with a blend of experience allowing ongoing learning. Participation: For the instructional sessions, any new or existing club members may participate, though priority will be given to curlers with less experience. Participation by more experienced curlers will be emphasized in the league play portion of the program. Curlers are asked to commit to participating regularly, particularly in the league play portion so teams will have sufficient players.
Cost: $60 for new curlers. No additional fees are required beyond basic club membership. New curlers may use club provided equipment (brooms, grippers, stabilizers, sliders) at no cost. Returning curlers are asked to purchase their own equipment.
